American Kitefliers Association
The American Kitefliers Association was founded in 1964 by the late Robert M. Ingraham of New Mexico. Now, with over 2,000 members, in 25 countries, the AKA is the largest association of kiters in the world. Their purpose is to educate the public in the art, history, technology, and practice of building and flying kites – to advance the joys and values of kiting in all nations.
The Drachen Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation devoted to the increase and diffusion of knowledge about kites world wide. We now fortify that mandate with the digitization of what we’ve experienced and collected. We are morphing into the world’s largest collaboration of kites online.
